Occurrences have been reported of Kannad 406 AF-Compact ELT transmitting random bursts in maintenance code during valid distress transmissions.
Relevant investigations determined that certain ELT configurations may be affected.
This condition, if not corrected, could lead to erroneously encoded emissions during an aircraft emergency, possibly delaying the arrival of the rescue services and timely medical assistance to injured crew members or passengers.
Safran Electronics & Defense Beacons SB S1840501-25-01 Revision 00 (original issue) dated 21 January 2026, required to be applied.
Applicability: Kannad 406 AF-Compact Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) model, having Part Number (P/N) S1840501-01 or P/N S1840501-04, all serial numbers.
